The Bloomer Legacy: 3.15 Villain Interlude (Part 1)

When Cassiel and Baato first arrived to Oasis Springs, all they had was each other. They couldn’t use any of Cassiel’s money, since that would give the police an idea of their whereabouts, so they had to start over with nothing.
The beginnings weren’t easy – there were days when they couldn’t shower and nights they had to spend on the bench.
Cassiel did not have the slightest clue how to live off the grid. Coming up with grandiose villain plans, experimenting with dark substances in the lab, those were her strengths. Catching something she could eat for dinner, however, was not.
Luckily Baato was a pro at survival, and was able to get them started nicely just through collecting.
He also built a little shed for the two of them, so they had somewhere to call home.
He soon managed to score himself a paid gig as a bartender in the local bar – the bar manager thought he was cute and she told him that if he managed to make one drink without smashing more than three glasses, the job was his.
Cassiel would usually join Baato during his shifts, and pick the pockets of unsuspecting bar patrons. That’s how she got the attention of the local crime gang. Before she knew it, she became the right hand to the boss.
Cassiel’s success in the criminal career allowed the twosome to upgrade their living situation significantly. They purchased an old abandoned science lab and renovated it to create a luxurious home.
Note: The house or its interior design are not my creation, it’s a heavily remodelled version of the GTW lab, redecorated and furnished by the talented Deligracy. It’s one of my all-time favourites to play in and I haven’t changed a thing. You can download this beautiful home here.
Their newfound wealth gave Baato an opportunity to explore a few different career paths, although his favourite way to spend time tending to his plants, his pride and joy, in the conservatory.
Whatever made Baato happy made Cassiel happy. He helped her through so much; her prison break and the initial lawn living in oasis Springs would have never been possible without him.
Their relationship has evolved over time as well, Cassiel didn’t really treat Baato as her subordinate anymore, they were equal partners.
Neither of them could have pictured this is what their lives would be, but here they were, together and happy.
And then the news came.
Baato: “Cassiel, I need to tell you something. I’ve received a message from my old tribe. My name has been cleared. I am now allowed to return to serve tribe Arayeo.”
Cassiel nearly choked on her French toast. This couldn’t be real.
“So… what are you going to do?” she asked casually, trying not to sound too crushed.
Baato: “I really don’t know. It’s such a hard decision. The life you’ve given me is like nothing I’ve ever experienced, but what about honouring my duties with tribe Arayeo?
I feel devoted to them, but at the same time I feel devoted to you. How can I decide what tribe my loyalty should lie with, the old or the new?”
Cassiel forced a smile: “Well, it is a hard choice. Take all the time you need.”
She wondered if she could still play on their past and order him to stay. But she didn’t want to do that. She wanted him to want to stay.
Not even a day has passed when Cassiel found out she was pregnant. She didn’t know how it could have happened, they were always careful because of her hatred of children. Perhaps it was a sign.
Either way, she broke the news to Baato to as soon as possible. He needed to have all the information before he came to his final decision.
Baato: “That is amazing! You’re going to give birth to the strongest daughter, I am sure of it.”
Cassiel cringed at the thought of a daughter. Not that a son would be any better. She looked into Baato’s eyes and silently begged him to stay. It was horrible that she was going to deal with an annoying small creature already, but to loose Baato too? She could not imagine that.
